How to Be Sure of Your Salvation

Why is it so common that we have doubts about our eternal salvation? Perhaps because there is so very much at stake and we realize that the devil is incredibly tricky...but probably also because we haven't taken the time to "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling." {Philippians 2:12b} Not to say that our salvation is orchestrated by us - in fact, the next verse says, "for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." But we still have a part to play in God's story of redemption and we absolutely owe it to ourselves (and those we love) to logically think it through, pray it out, and to become sure of our salvation. Let's not just "hope for the best." We can KNOW where we're bound, because that's the kind of confidence that God desires for us.
